Tiago Moreno

Freshmen at Santa Clara University

"Utilizing our voice to better the lives and well-being of ourselves and others is imperative, without exception. Gun violence is a systemic issue, perpetuated by a lack of proactive measures and the influence of powerful, corrupt individuals through lobbying. By learning about the causes and approaches to end gun violence, we can steadily and decisively push back, working towards a safer world for all."

Tiago has always harbored a deep passion for humanitarian efforts and politics, immersing himself in research on systemic issues and globally perpetuated threats for as long as he can recall. He got his start in gun control activism through WorldOregon’s Young Leaders in Action program, and he recognized the importance of leveraging the knowledge he gained for good. When not actively engaged in activism, politics, or research, he can be found engrossed in reading or spending time with his loved ones.

Sharanya Sannidihi

Senior at Sunset High School

"As a passionate individual, my journey to activism isn't just about making a difference; it's about discovering my purpose and finding mu purpose and my voice in the world that often tries to silence us."

Growing up India, Sharanya has always discovered herself to be someone who was passionate in standing up for herself and others in times that was difficult to do so. Her move to the US, brought many changes and one so important one that she's immensely thankful for is the program, Young Leaders In Action has brough; where she met many like-minded individuals who were equally passionate in activism and re-discovered herself on the path of activism. It was only through these experiences did she realize the power of collective action and the importance of standing up for what's right. Apart from being a activist she loves singing, meeting new people and learning something fun!

Cece Parks

Senior at Sunset High School

"Our most viable tool is our own voice, it is the spark that ignites justice. Activism begins with our voice, our opinion, our experiences, and it is the drive for a more just society. Gun Violence will not end without your voice, we must fight to end this epidemic."

Cece has always been a passionate, curious, learner, anxious to make the world a better place. Regarding the issue of gun violence, she got her foot in the door through WorldOregon’s Young Leaders in Action program where she learned the importance of listening to others, and pairing emotion with knowledge. When she’s not doing activism work, you can find Cece spending time with her close friends or trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
